Loki Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, Episode 1, Confirmed! 2023

Bringing back Tom Hiddleston for Loki Season 2 is a gift that keeps giving. In the first season of the MCU spinoff on Disney+, new and exciting threats were introduced to the universe (and multiverse). We now have a trailer to prove that the sci-fi drama is currently filming season 2.

The God of Mischief is returning for Loki Season 2, so here is everything that viewers need to know about the show, from its release date to its cast details.

Loki Season 2

Loki Season 2

Loki’s Season 2 will premiere on Disney Plus in the winters of 2023. San Diego Comic-Con 2022 was the first time Marvel Studios revealed the release date for the second season. Marvel confirmed Loki’s return in the Loki post-credits scene, but the news won’t have been a total surprise to those who follow headlines.

Filming for the Loki season 2 began in June 2022 in the United Kingdom, with the sets decorated in a 1970s style. Loki’s first season was filmed over about six months (excluding a pandemic-related hiatus), followed by a half-year of post-production.

Earlier this year, executive producer Nate Moore told IndieWire Loki could last multiple seasons, suggesting even more sequels are in the works.

In Loki, the storytelling is irreverent, intelligent, cool, and very clever, but it also gives itself to multiple seasons in a way that isn’t a one-off. Tom Hiddleston does some of his excellent work in that series. Despite all the great stuff he’s done, this show will show so many different sides, and he will show his true range, and that show will surprise a lot of people.

How Does the Loki Season 2 Story Unfold?

There have already been some exciting twists and turns in Loki’s story, and the writers are incredibly tight-lipped about Loki Season 2. Kang the Conqueror may appear again as Loki’s multiverse hangs in the balance.

However, the outcome depends on what happens to the villain in the next Ant-Man film. The Multiverse of Madness showed us that anyone can show up now.

Hiddleston told Total Film that the story isn’t over at the end of Season 1. That’s pretty clear. Almost as chaotic and turbulent as he’s ever been, Loki is almost more unstable than ever. Maybe some of that needs to be resolved.

Theories and Speculations About Loki Season 2: What Might Happen Next?

In Loki episode six, Jonathan Majors made his comic book villain debut as Kang the Conqueror, which fans had long been craving. Rather than the ruthless, maniacal villain in the comic books, the eccentric figure we meet in the series finale appears to be a more reasonable variation known as He Who Remains. In the source content, He Who Remains and Kang are different characters, but the characters have been merged for the MCU adaptation.

Despite Kang’s authoritarian grasp over reality, there is a virtuous side to this version of him as he tries to prevent a catastrophic multiverse war from breaking out. In the closing moments, as Sylvie kills him, he says, “see you soon,” referring to countless alternate realities where he could meet an even more dangerous version of himself. Kang is already confirmed to appear in the next Ant-Man film, which is due out in early 2023, so it is currently unknown whether Loki season two will feature him in a more prominent role.

The ramifications of a shifted timeline in which neither Hunter B-15 nor Agent Mobius remembers who Loki is and will be explored in Tom Hiddleston’s epic sci-fi story, regardless of whether the Kang subplot comes to the big screen.

Loki may have been transported into a parallel universe where TVA never happened, but it’s unclear if Sylvie sent him there or if the cosmos has already gone awry. Perhaps an egotistical time-traveler is behind this meddling, as evidenced by a giant Kang statue in the TVA headquarters, which replaced a shrine to the fictional Time-Keepers.

A similar ambiguity is left by Ravonna Renslayer, who left the TVA headquarters via TemPad in search of free will.

Loki’s second season could be the first time the two villains cross paths since she is Kang the Conqueror’s right-hand woman in the comics.

The show’s showrunner, Kate Herron, will not be returning for season two, but she also has plenty of questions about the show’s future.

Loki Season 2 Cast and Crew Members

Many Loki cast members will return for season two, including Tom Hiddleston. There have been confirmations of the following members.

SylvieSophia Di Martino
Mobius M. MobiusOwen Wilson
Miss MinuteTara Strong
RavonnaGugu Mbatha-Raw
Hunter C-20Sasha Lane

There are other Loki variants in town now, including Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, the most prominent Mischief Loki variant. In addition to the Boastful Loki played by DeObia Oparei, we may also find out more about the child Loki Jack Veal, but it seems unlikely Richard E Grant’s Classic Loki will survive his encounter with Alioth – then again, Lokis are known for finding sneaky ways to survive.

After Agent Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, and Hunter B-15, played by Wunmi Mosaku, appear to have forgotten Loki in the ultimate scene, fans will be eager to see what happens next.

Based on the comics, we could be seeing more of Gugu Mbatha-Raw in the series finale as Ravonna Renslayer – the ruthless TVA judge, embarks on a quest for free will.

Alternatively, she could follow Jonathan Majors to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania instead of sticking around for Loki season 2.
